The Ohio Valley Quilters' Guild (OVQG) was founded in April, 1981, by people interested in preserving the heritage of quilting, promoting excellence in the art, and communicating old and new ideas. The OVQG has over 300 members from around the Cincinnati Tri-State area. Anyone interested in the art of quiltmaking is welcome to join the OVQG.
Membership in the Ohio Valley Quilters' Guild entitles you to the following:

Our services for members include:
Brief business meetings are followed by Show & Tell during which members and guests are invited to share their quilt projects by display and brief explanation. Meetings are followed by educational and informative programs by members and guest speakers. (Prior notice is requested in order to be included on the agenda.)
Each member receives a copy of The Ohio Valley Star, published monthly. The newsletter reports on upcoming quilt activities and contains articles contributed by members on special projects, shows, or workshops they have attended and quilt books they have read. We offer yearly and monthly rates for business advertising.
The Guild has a library of quilt books, magazines, videos, newsletters, slides, templates, stencils, quilt blocks and educational materials that are available at monthly meetings. Members may borrow items free for one month. Library materials may be renewed for an additional month by phone to the Librarian or her committee.
In addition to the monthly general meeting, members get together informally in smaller groups. This provides an opportunity to share, learn, and improve different quilting techniques as well as meet other Guild members.
OVQG organizes workshops by both local and outside quilting teachers as well as by nationally recognized experts.
As the Cincinnati chapter of the National Quilting Association, we help with NQA events in our area and periodically produce our own quilt shows.
Some quilt shops will give a discount on purchases when your OVQG membership card is presented. Please ask before your purchase is tabulated.

The group was chartered in 1996. We meet the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and try not to be too structured. Our membership currently stands at about 40 members. We have quilters of all varying experiences and age groups and try to provide a short learning program each month. We have done charity quilts, baby quilts for Children's Hospital and the local Shelter and a raffle quilt. Each year we donate quilt books to the library. Each person is asked to make a $12.00 donation to cover expenses for the year. New members are always welcome.

We now have over 167 Guild members. Dues are $15 a year. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month (except July/Aug due to vacations and county fairs and Dec, due to Christmas). Each year in January we hold our Annual Quilt Retreat over Martin Luther King Weekend at the Holiday Inn (St Rt 309 and I-75) were several of us volunteer to teach a class (average 10 to 15 classes to choose from). On National Quilt Day in March, smaller guilds that make up our guild, host quilt bees to make charity quilts for the first baby born in their respective counties. The first weekend of June we hold a Quilt Show that is held at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds, State Routes 116 and 127, Van Wert, Ohio, to showcase our members quilts. September finds us on a Bus Trip somewhere. We have at least one major speaker and workshop sometime during the year. We also have a very large list of Independents (those who for one reason or another cannot attend a guild meeting elsewhere).

The Gathering of Quilters Guild is a non-profit organization founded in 1982. It promotes the art and craft of quilting, with membership open to any person interested in quilts and quilt making. Current membership encompasses Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan and is more than 100 members strong.
You do not need to be a member in order to attend any meeting. For a $10 fee at the door (unless otherwise noted), the general public is welcome.
